About the NUILab

The NUILab mascot: a yeti striding along wearing an AR headset, a classic game controller dangling from one hand.
The NUILab yeti — natural interaction, even for cryptids. Artwork by Dr. Adam Williams, used with permission.

The Natural User Interaction Laboratory (NUILab) at Colorado State University studies how people interact with computers through natural means — gesture, speech, gaze, and touch — and applies that work to augmented and virtual reality. We care about making interaction feel effortless — and usable by everyone.

The lab has had two homes: Florida International University, where it began, and Colorado State University, where it is today.
